As well as formal seating, Mr. Pickwick’s has a bar area, a sofa to relax on and a large garden. Their Blue Room can be reserved for private functions for up to 40 people and is wheelchair accessible. The tap room is temperature controlled and holds up to 14 ales with a mixture of gravity ale and hand pump. All their beers are lovingly cared for and very reasonably priced!
The pub decided to go full circle, having been fondly known as “The Pickwick” back in the 80’s and 90’s, they had decided to return to their origins and completely overhaul the venue in terms of its decor, signage and marketing literature.
We we tasked with facilitating the new look, with a logo design, translating into leaflets, members’ club cards, menus, a new website and both interior and exterior signage.
The managers wanted to capture the Dickensian look from the books and illustrations with clean designs and vintage styling.
We supplied our usual logo choices and the clients loved the hand-drawn Pickwick character sitting above a classic serif font, bookended with sharp, simple finials. This paved the way for the rest of the brand.
The logo quickly translated into the pub’s signage and an A3 folded menu in the style of an old newspaper, affectionately title “The Pickwick Papers” which introduced the character, detailed upcoming events while giving the patrons a delicious choice of food for any hour of the day.
Lastly came the website, which utilised a WordPress platform to allow the bar staff access to edit and update each page with the latest news and events.
