THE BRIEF

Hype was the brainchild of one of our longest standing clients, designed to bring back old school music to the nightlife of Norwich, a theme which hadn’t been seen much since the mid to late nineties.

The advertising for this event would be spread across poster designs and social media and therefore needed to be eye-catching and bold with a sense of nostalgia of classic music from yesteryear.

Our client was very specific about what they wanted, which made a welcome change from the usual briefs.

Hype would be a trial event with the hope of snowballing into a regular club night and maybe more.

THE RESULT

We began swapping ideas with our client about how best to achieve a classic, old school design which paid tribute to commercial, celebrity artists as well as promoting the DJ’s that played commercial music and the up and coming vocalists with styles of their own.

The main focus of the designs, however, would be the venue where Hype would be hosted and the charities it supported.

The first PDFs were exchanged and received a great response. After several meetings with the organisers, only a few minor tweaks were made from the original concept.

The posters and social media banners were presented with black and white imagery to denote nostalgia, with gold grunge lettering to achieve a sense of prestige but with an urban feel.
